DELICIOUS MEALS

The MMF uses area caterers to bring meals to families who prefer not to leave their child’s hospital room. Our partnership with the Ronald McDonald Homes and local children’s hospitals give us access to provide meals in areas such as the Ronald McDonald Rooms that are restricted to patients and their families. We also partner with the Ronald McDonald Homes to prepare and serve meals in-house to over 100 individuals each visit. We conclude our outreach with an opportunity to connect with families and create a relaxing environment to take their mind off their life stressors and return a sense of normalcy, if only for a moment!

Supplying our hospitals family resource centers with our MMF Signature Blessing Bag has been a welcomed attribute. Our MMF Signature Blessing Bags contain activity books for children and parents, notebooks and pens, parking and food vouchers, a small monetary donation, and hygiene products.

The MMF has been a partner with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center (CCHMC) since 2016 when they  launched the Home Away from Home Initiative. CCHMC attracts families from around the world because of their high-ranking quality of care. The Ronald McDonald House of Greater Cincinnati is the area's leader in temporary lodging. Unfortunately, they must turn families away or place them on a waitlist due to being at maximum occupancy.


Since COVID-19 this need has been echoed across the State of Ohio. The MMF stepped up and committed to bridge the displacement of families by working with various partners to place families in area hotels until they can be accommodated at the Ronald McDonald House. In 2020, the Home Away From Home Project expanded to the Cleveland-area, when a family from Eastern Ohio traveled over an hour for a routine appointment. During the appointment their baby coded and The MMF jumped into action by providing 40 nights of temporary lodging to his family, until he was discharged and able to return home safely.


Additionally, MMF provided emergency lodging to a child who required to be hundreds of miles from home to receive a double-lung transplant. The MMF provided temporary lodging through our partnership with a suite-style hotel. This child and his family returned home, to Northeast Ohio only to be diagnosed with cancer shortly after his return. Displaced and scared the family turned to the MMF so they could return to the children's hospital hundreds of miles away. With your support, his family was NOT displaced and stayed near his bedside.
